Today amazon tried to take payment from the old card and it didn’t go through, so i went in to update the new card details. however it seems to get stuck buffering on the “verify charge method” screen.

There has to be a valid charge method for each country otherwise you will be suspended in that country, and then potentially all your accounts may become suspended. It is in the Amazon Ts&Cs that you must have a valid charge method. Until you are able to provide an alternative, your debit card will be un-delete-able.
